This was so good. I really enjoyed Take It Back and this one was even better. I was totally engrossed and couldn't wait to get answers.
I audibly gasped when we found out that Yasmin and Andrew had another kid before Max. However, I then started to guess that maybe Max had the same illness and Andrew and Leila wanted to essentially euthanize him to make it less painful and to spare Yasmin the trauma.
But what a WILD and heartbreaking choice.
I, however, did not guess that Max wasn't really sick and that they were just mistaken and misinterpreting symptoms of pesticide. When we got the reveal that Max wasn't Andrew's kid, I kind of thought maybe he had found that out and used the EB as a ruse the kid his wife had with another man. But, nope, just poor, poor Andrew.
And the reveal that Will (Leila's husband...who was clearly a POS fishing for quotes for his article) was the father! Ugh.
Basically, it was amazing and horrific and heartbreaking and so good. 4.5 rounded up.

Would recommend if you like simple crime case thrillers. Enjoyed it like a mild suspenseful movie. The middle may have slowed down the book to where the ending twist seemed very sped up. All in all good book. Writing was easy to read. Warning: mentions of death, children suffering, miscarriage, suicidal thoughts, murder, etc…
