The ending was not nearly as cute as the last book's. In fact, I'm not sure how I feel about the direction the story went. On the other hand, it was pretty realistic, and I am a fan of realistic character motivations/actions.
4.5 stars, really.
Book 3 in the series picks up the day after book 2 ended. I am so glad I didn't read these as they came out because I would not have wanted to wait to read the next one. Damsel Under Stress is just as funny and quirky a cozy-romantic-magical-realism-mystery as the first two. This time Katie has picked up a fairy godmother whose help is...not so helpful, and her roommates are starting to suspect Katie is keeping secrets from them. On the bright side, Owen invites her to spend Christmas with his foster parents, and repeated attacks on Katie and/or Owen certainly do keep things interesting! Can they uncover the extent of the conspiracy in time to keep the existence of magic from being revealed to the world? And will they EVER succeed in having a "normal" date?
For readers' advisors: story and character doorways are primary. Setting (New York City) is less important in book 3 than in the first two.

A great series and good read. Nothing complicated or heavy and very much plays up to expectations.
W T F!!
I liked this book well enough (it was probably the least strong of the series to-date, because I felt like we were re-treading old storylines, but I was still having fun)... until the last 5 pages.

I freaking hate when such a strong, intelligent heroine just throws in the towel and embraces being a victim. Give me a fucking break! And Merlin... unforgivable.
A note? Unforgivable.

I really enjoy these Harry Potteresque books for adults. There is the angsty romance between Katie and Owen all the while evil magicians plot to take down the magical company they work for. In this book, there is an interfering fairy godmother who does more to destroy the relationship between Katie and Owen rather than bringing them together. Looking forward to book four!
Not as charming as the first in the series, "Damsel Under Stress" is still a fun read. I thought the awkwardness between the two newly dating characters was very realistic, but slightly aggravating. I also didn't appreciate the ending very much. Hopefully the last installment leaves a better taste in my mouth.
I really hated Katie and Owen's relationship in this, she seemed so on the fence about the relationship through the whole book, she's supposed to have a mad crush on him but seems to spend as much time telling him she's busy as she does anything else, she also doesn't really bother letting him know she actually cares about him. And I really hated the ending, it was so clichéd and really unfair to Owen.
So much of the conflict was created by one character and I really don't understand why she let Owen know about her, it would have saved a lot of trouble. Throughout the book she just seems so determined to solve everything on her own despite the fact that it's causing more and more problems for everyone else.

This is the third book in the enchanted series. The main girl, katie, is a magical immune, which means she can't do or be affected by magic, which is sort of a special power in and of itself. she is working for a magic spell corporation in nyc and finally dating her crush, a powerful wizard coworker. i liked this book, but not as much as the others. there were magical fights against the bad wizards, but everything was rushed. katie and her bf did act weird, so its no wonder her roommates were worried about her. nothing seemed to go in depth, and this allowed me to mostly read it in one day when i was in bed with a cold. i really hated the ending, which, of course, i can't say. but it didnt even make any sense, nor merlin's reaction. it just seemed like it was there to cause more drama and make more books. if you like the series, youll want to read this book, but i do think she needed to spend more time writing it overall.
The third in the Katie Chandler series is thankfully much better than the second. Owen and Katie are finally together and another magic battle is heating up. A fun read.
