Fair. Not quite the high-octane undersea adventure I was expecting. Parts were wordy and slow. Too much exposition and the plot seemed threadbare with random events thrown in, apparently heading nowhere and getting nowhere.

I have a probably not so good mindset of always finishing books I've started. This one I started in 2021 and found it to be so boring, but I had to finish it. In the end this book single handedly put me in a reading slump.

I tried reading it again after getting back into reading and I finally finished it. Just took me 2 years lol.

I must say that the book got more enjoyable after I realized I could just skip all the fish-biology stuff. There is some stuff that kind of annoyed me throughout the book, like how they would find something amazing just to go "neat. Anyway, look at the fish!"

The book was slow for me. There wasn't a lot that happened in the story, and it was incredibly science forward. I found it interesting, but at times it did see to drag on with explanation/descriptions of scientific topics.
