Incredible. This book is definitely my favorite Arthurian retelling I have read. Tracy Deonn brilliantly weaves the legend of Arthur, urban fantasy, and the exploration of generational trauma and racism. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Holy crap.

I honestly do not know if I can put into words how much I FREAKING LOVE THIS BOOK. I loved every second of it. The Arthurian lore, the representations of so many diverse characters from race to sexuality to gender to grief and trauma, the friendships, the magic system....HOLY CRAP.

And look, I don't care if Sel is anyone's love interest or not. I'm Team Sel. He's probably my favorite character of the bunch.

Just a masterpiece. A literal masterpiece of a book. I need the sequel now pls.

Jesusth Christh, these books are INCREDIBLE!!!! I haven’t been hooked onto a series like this in a long time. Bree is such an amazing, likeable character and even though she constantly makes mistakes, she always comes out better because of those mistakes. The relationships she curates throughout the series and how she learns from them was also awesome to read.

Tracy Deonn incorporates race issues into this story in a way that makes sense, is enlightening, and is extremely important to the development of Bree and her journey. These issues were approached passionately and shown in ways that we need to see - from past to present.

This book was amazing. The beginning was a bit slow but once it climaxed…. Omg!!! It was amazing!!! The wat the author wove a tale of King Arthur, Slavery, and magic together with unspeakable precision made this easily my best read of 2021. The book was raw, and honest and spoke of a time past that is in all of our histories. Stories long forgotten given new life. This was a book of girl feel lose, meets boy, boy falls for girl even though it’s unorthodox because of race and wealth. This book puts a modern spin on the king Arthur tale and I love it. I’m usually not a fan of King Arthur retelling so that why it took me so long to read this book, but man am I mad I waited. Legendborn swept me away and in May ways Bree’s life story is the story of many young black girls. Overall she was just trying to navigate lose, and grief within the pages of this book.
