Saw someone on tiktok recommend it as serial killer smut and I was not disappointed. But I was definitely not prepared for what happened to Mara.
omg I don't know how she survived cause how do u have that much will to live if not for revenge. I thought she would survive and then seek revenge but no she literally was fine not getting even. Espionage after the cops don't believe her and shit wow I would be so full on anger and resentment. The main reason I kept reading was for Mara I don't like anyone else in the book. She the reason it's 2 stars. Except at the end when she gave in to Cole completely and let him fuck her repeatedly. That' was trash. The on thing I really liked ab their relationship was that even thought Cole had all the power Mara would put him in his place. That tattoo scene was interesting bc they both got tattooed. I would have liked the fucking scene at the end if there was a back and forth. Her having control and then him. When Cole gives up control it feels like he's not a serial killer. He also stalked her and did disgusting things to her without her knowledge. He took joy in watching her feel violated and unsafe. I wish the author would flip the script more. Alsooo I didn't like the rushed killing of Mara's friend. It felt so out of place. Idk I have so many more thoughts but I'll add it later.
I felt nauseous many times ready this book but I guess that's what the author wanted me to feel. Be prepared and look at the trigger warnings!
