3.5/5 overall I liked the art and flow of the issue but the ending kind felt a bit anticlimactic

A bit too heavy-handed for me, but a solid long-form Avengers/X-Men comic nonetheless.

The artwork and writing on the first six or so doesn't live up to the subject matter. This is hell and gone from the glory of the Dark Phoenix Saga. That said, as the story settles in the writing and art grow and improve. I'd really give 2 stars to the first six chapters and four stars to the last six.

I am not a Marvel reader, at this point that is only because so much has happened in the Marvel Universe that I feel I will never be able to figure out what's going on. However, I asked my boyfriend to provide me with anything with "X-men" in the title for the "A-Z" challenge and this is what I received.

I did not feel as lost as I thought I would. I do watch all the Marvel movies so most of the Avengers and many of the X-men were familiar to me. I think the authors did a good job of making this somewhat stand-alone. They bring up stuff that has happened in the past, obviously, but they also take the time to explain at least enough of it to get you to the point we're at now.

The story was fun, although a few times it felt a little coincidental, but hey, it's a comic book. I absolutely loved the individual battles and the "AvX Fun Facts." Most of those were pretty funny. I'm not sure how I feel about them being at the end though. I think I would have enjoyed it more if they had been placed where the battle was actually taking place within the story. I would have gotten to know who was actually fighting when the fighting was happening, plus get some needed comic relief in the midst of all the drama.
