Dit verhaal is echt harteloos. Ik ga geen eens sterren geven aan dit verhaal. Niet omdat het zo slecht geschreven is of iets dergelijks, maar gewoon omdat ik het niet wil beoordelen.

Powerful novel in verse. It was a little on the short side but I loved the way it dealt with the idea of an eating disorder.

YES. A FAT BOOK THAT DOESN'T SHAME FAT PEOPLE. Ok, our main character has an eating disorder BUT her family don't turn around when they realise and say "oh we'll help you lose weight properly". They purely discuss helping her get healthy in terms of her relationship with food. They don't make the discussion her size and I just loved that.
Could it have been better? potentially. and I don't know if it's own voices or not, but I really enjoyed this one.

This could have so much more to it! It’s a great look at the ED culture and high school drama, all out in great verse, but I wish it was expanded more. The characters were well developed for such a short and succinct read, but I wanted to see/know more. Worth the quick read!

My dream isn’t to be anorexic. But for people like Lacey to think I could be.
I read this in like less than an hour. Super short read and the whole thing is in verse.
Maybe it’s cause I’m not the right audience. Maybe it’s cause ED’s are still an unpleasant topic for me. Maybe it’s cause every person in this book sucks except for of course June and Mae. Maybe it’s even because I spent so little reading this book. BUT WHATEVER IT IS, I hated it

I just sat through 100+ pages wondering what the actual plot of this book was. I can’t really tell you that since all I got was our main girl, June, has an ED and everyone around her has secrets. The characters were pretty flat because, as mentioned, all they really had going for them were their secrets. Even all June had going for her was her ED. That’s it. I don’t think I liked anything much about THE except the verse format and the play on words and how they’re spelled/typed onto the page. I also liked the cover. But this book could’ve been longer and allowed for more development and resolution.

I enjoyed the story and love the way it was written but I feel like I need more of it.

I read this novel in verse in one sitting. While I have never suffered from a diagnosable eating disorder, I have struggled with food and dieting since my teens. This book speaks DIRECTLY to that inner self that is doubting, fat shaming, counting every calorie...
June is a very relatable and likable protagonist. The sun story of her sister and her horrible boyfriend is wonderful.
Love love love this quick but meaningful read.

Easy to read. Every young teen girl struggling with her weight would relate to this book, however, I felt as if there was something missing. More depth? Where's the connection to the bullying and overeating/disorder? Was the sister "Stress eating"?
