So glad that I was selected to read this Netgalley!
Blake Couch is so creative and innovative in the stories he tells. It’s almost chilling how real they feel - like it could have in real life and he’s telling us to prepare ourselves.
In his latest book, Upgrade, we are dropped into a post traumatic United States after an attempt at gene mutation caused a global famine and killed A LOT of people.
I really enjoyed this read! It’s perfect for travel, rainy days, and when you need an extra adventure.

Another good read for fans of Blake Crouch, not as thrilling or mind boggling as previous books but still unpredictable and thought-provoking, epilogue ended it on a nice note

An improvement on previous Crouch works to me! As always, I recommend going into Crouch's work as blind as possible because I feel it gives more to enjoy in the works. That being said, it can feel dense at times with the sci-fi elements while also feeling easy to follow because, well, thrilling.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

Not my favorite Crouch but still wildly entertaining. It got good for me after the first third of the novel. More action packed but less science fiction than I remember his other works to be.

Mostly audio, some paper. Like the other Crouch I read, the story was a compelling page-turner but I doubt it will stick with me in any lasting way. I think it would make for a great book club discussion. The ending made me bananas - reminded me of that Simpson’s episode: “but that’s the beauty of the plan, Lisa - we’ll just introduce silver-backed gorillas…”
