A fantastic character-driven book set in deep Appalachia. The writing style (as the main character) took awhile to get used to, but was well worth the story that followed.

4.5 but rounding up to 5 because giving anything less is criminal. This story was stunning and heartbreaking. Raw, important, and insightful. I truly loved it right up until the last chapter which is what is giving me pause - I wish Angus & Demon’s relationship had stayed platonic. I don’t think that it needed to go in a romantic direction, but I understand all the same, and I’m happy he found his happy beginning.
