4.5 but rounding up to 5 because giving anything less is criminal. This story was stunning and heartbreaking. Raw, important, and insightful. I truly loved it right up until the last chapter which is what is giving me pause - I wish Angus & Demon’s relationship had stayed platonic. I don’t think that it needed to go in a romantic direction, but I understand all the same, and I’m happy he found his happy beginning.

This is hard to review, because while I see the craft behind this book I can’t say I enjoyed it very much. It feels very literary and I know why people like it’d but my own personal enjoyment wasn’t very high. I can feel Dickens’s influence on this and appreciate that, but I don’t know if I’ll come back to this story again.
