Loved part of the acknowledgments in the back that said something along the lines of, “The events of this story are both too real and entirely fictional.” I truly felt like I was on the terrible New York trip I took in my early 20s as well while reading this.
A bit of an anticlimactic ending, but the art was beautiful the entire way through. Very atmospheric.
I don’t really get the point of this. I don’t see a message. It reminds me of a shitty trip I took to New York at 19 but that’s about it.
Really struggled to find where this landed for me.
I think that the meandering pace and lush, flowing artwork combine to really place the reader in that sense of aimless, wandering vastness that you feel when you begin to transition into your independence as a young adult, but it starts to crumble under the weight of its own charms as its lack of direction begins to drag the entire work down in the last third.

This book is gorgeous inside and out: five million stars, no notes. It brought back those teenage, first year of college, confusion around old friends and new, barrage of feelings back with a BANG.
