It was so good! the characters were so perfect and deserve each other. BUT. I was kinda perturbed by the age gap...I mean, she is a minor for the entire book and even if it's a lot mention in the book and everyone is aware of it...they all think it's normal lol.
I picked Capture up without having reading the Seaside series. I know Capture isn't part of that series but they have similar characters and, therefore, back story!! Anyway...the whole selective mute thing caused an eyebrow-raised reaction out of me. Not that it doesn't exist but I felt like it didn't serve as much of a purpose as it could have. She was mute...and then she was not...and then the rest of the story continued on. It didn't hold as much weight as I thought it would when I started the novel. That being said, the relationship that developed between Lincoln and Dani was so much more intense because of the foundation they had to build having been forced together by Dani's sister and brother-in-law. Demetri, Alec and Jaymeson's protective older-brother antics were hilarious. They definitely kept me amused throughout the novel. The fact that Lincoln had to contend with that made him that much more worthy of Dani's affections, I think!! There's a lot of hot and steamy in this novel, more than I thought we'd see (she's only seventeen!!!) and it really is just a sweet story despite the horrible events that lead up to it. As much as I enjoyed Dani and Lincoln's story, though, I feel very taken and intrigued by Zane...way to go Rachel!!
The most entertaining thing about this book is Zane.. I can't finish it.. Maybe I'll come back but I just can't..
Anyone who follows my reviews knows I am huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken. She is an automatic buy for me, without even looking at the synopsis. I was thrilled when she revealed she was returning to Seaside. While several characters from the Seaside Series make an appearance, this is a completely new series. You don't have to read any of her previous books to enjoy this one. Since I am a sucker for sexy rock stars, I highly recommend the Seaside Series though. I spent most of this book with a huge grin on my face. Capture is a perfect summer read and feel good romance at its best. It contains humor, minimal angst, and a sweet unlikely love story.
Because sometimes, words were the last thing you needed, especially when they couldn't do your feelings justice.
From the beginning I was swept up in Dani's story. She is suffering from select mutism after a dramatic event. Despite the seriousness of PTSD, this is not an angst filled read. From the moment Lincoln is brought into the picture, I knew he would be exactly what Dani needs. These two have a unique relationship with quite a few hurdles to overcome. Their banter and connection was fantastic. Despite her inability to talk, they don't have issues developing feelings for one another.
"You'll never be able to move forward...until you stop looking behind you."
As with all of RVD's books, her secondary characters completely steal the show. Zane adds so much depth and humor; I can't imagine the story without him. I am quite sure he will have book in the near future. I first fell in love with Demetri Daniels in Pull and was so excited to see him again. In fact, several characters from multiple books make cameo scenes. I absolutely love when an author does this! You never truly say good-bye to previous books and couples.
Dani and Lincoln have an ending, so don't fear a cliffhanger. While I greedily wanted more, I am certain we will see them in the future books in Seaside Pictures. If you are looking for a quintessential lighthearted romance, this book is for you.

Rachel Van Dyken.......I love her work. This is different from the seaside series of hers, but you get the seaside characters in this one. I love how RVD gives you the humor, the sweetness, and love. I love how RVD is always giving you LOL chuckles with most of her books. She makes you feel like you are part of the fold while reading her books. In this series you are reading about celebreties who are acting like normal people. This is such a fun read, I finished this and I felt like I lost my friends cause I was done the book. This can be a stand alone, this is a first in the series but you do meet the others .....Marshmelllow obsession for the next book, hint hint. I have a list of 5 go to authors and she is one of them. I recommend all o f her books. By the way.....the picture is of the author and her hubby. Find her on social media....her posts are the best.
THIS BOOK WAS SO CUTE I COULDN'T EVEN HADNLE IT!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT SOOOOO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO READ ZANE'S BOOK!!!!!!!!

Capture is the first book in the Seaside Pictures series from Rachel Van Dyken. This book is a standalone story with no cliffhanger, and if you have read the Seaside series by her you will notice some familiar faces here. I am a huge fan of Rachel's, but her Seaside series is one that I haven't read yet. I thought that she did a great job of introducing those characters here without making the reader feel as though they were missing something by not having read the other series. I am definitely going to be reading it in the future though after reading this book and liking them all so much!
After losing her parents in a car accident that she blames herself for, Dani lost the ability to speak. Though she has a lot to be thankful for including her sister and best friends, she still feels responsible for her parents dying. But when she gets a job working for Hollywood's newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene, she begins to wonder if she has a chance to turn her summer job with Lincoln into something more.
I really liked these two. Lincoln treated her differently that she was used to, and I liked that he accepted her for who she was. He didn't use kid gloves with her, and I think that was exactly what she needed. He was charming and sexy, and impossible not to fall in love with. Dani was sassy and fun, and she also had a really sweet side to her. These two were so much fun to read about, and their chemistry was strong right from the start. I enjoyed seeing Lincoln be vulnerable with her, while supporting her as well. Lincoln and Dani definitely connected on every level, and I couldn't get enough of them.
Overall, this was a really great story. It was everything I have come to know and love from RVD. Capture was sweet and funny, while also being sexy and emotional. Rachel Van Dyken always draws you right in with her unique characters and great stories, and this is definitely one of my favorites of hers. It is impossible to pick an absolute favorite from her, because I really think that you can't go wrong with one of her books. She never disappoints, and I always know that each book of hers is going to be a good one. I highly recommend checking this one out if you haven't already, as I think that this is one that most romance fans will be able to connect to and enjoy. I can't wait to get more from Rachel in the future, and I am looking forward to reading more in this series as it continues. I also really love the fact that the cover is actually a picture of Rachel and her husband! I am huge on covers, and the fact that she used a picture of them together is just something that makes this book that much better to me!
