The first half of the book was a little bit slow for me, but I loved Lucian from the start, I like Feyrs as the main character. I like the second half of the book a lot more, in the second half I grew more font of Rhys I think Amarantha is a good villain. Like I said the second half of the book was way better and I am glad that I didn't DNF it, and gave it a chance...

Not bad, but not amazing as BookTok lead me to believe. I had low expectations just because I am wary of BookTok, but I think that allowed me to enjoy it more than I think I would thinking this book was going to be life changing for me. Feyre is somewhat tolerable and Tamlin, I don't get him he's just plain awful. I mean mister Rhysand is better, but not by a lot. Lucien is my MVP for this book.

I like this book better than the first Throne of Glass book. The writing and the world-building is better in this one. It does bother me that Ireland was used for the inspiration of Hybern though. Overall, a flawed but good read.

This book could have been better, not in terms of plot, that I was fine with, but in terms of character actions, and the author desperately needing a GOOD editor.

If I have to read the phrase "lazy smile" again in this series, I'm likely to throw myself into the abyss. A thesaurus would be a very advantageous resource for this author and an editor willing to point out the gross overuse of certain phrases.

Outside of the complaints about unfortuately typical YA romantic toxic relationships, and lack of character diversity, it does have a feeling of being a reimagined Beauty & the Beast but in a Fae world to explain the magic. Unlike Beauty & the Beast, our main character has a stubborn streak that is spiteful to the point of self sabotage.

She does have character growth with her stubborness and her "oh woe is me" attitude does improve. She begins to take time to understand those around her, especially of her dysfunctional family.
