Review: With all the hype around ACOTAR, this was a disappointing read. The world felt empty, and the plot behind taking Feyre but not doing anything with her made no sense until the big twist was revealed. I did like Feyre's skills as a hunter and the other Fae, but struggled with the instalove.

I think Feyre had the opportunity to become an annoying (negative) main character; a character who succeeds due merely to her plot armor and every male character finding her attractive. I was glad that she struggles, she learns, and she adapts. Her sisters, who clearly have different values than her, are never pitted against her and their conflicts are understandable and based in their shared histories.
I was absolutely shocked how infrequent and how mild the smut was in this book as well. This, I consider a good thing as I think anything beyond wouldn't really have served the story or would have needed to happen at a point in the story where it wouldn't have made sense.
The worldbuilding was intriguing, and I'm curious to see where things go in the subsequent stories. However, I feel like some future plot points are getting set up that will not be satisfying to read. Which is to say I think many things with Rysand feel like they didn't have long enough to percolate. But this book ain't about him, so maybe I just wish he was a little less present.
