The only thing keeping me from giving this a 5 star review is the fact the first 60% is a mirror, almost scene for scene, of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Unique enough to still be enjoyable, but predictable and I'm glad I knew Sarah's work with "Throne of Glass". I kept thinking, "hang in there, she knows what she's doing" and it took until halfway through the book for it to really show. I hope the next book continues the trend!

It took me over a year to finish this. I kept putting it down. Overall, one of the worst "bestselling" books ever. 

Also, trigger warning for abusive relationships in this book. There's massive red flags between characters (physical and manipulation) but it's all okay because it's real love?? Big nope right there.

I have heard good things about this book so I decided to give it a try. All in all it is “good” but definitely not for the faint of hard. There are moments where I had to skip through and nearly stop listening to the audio book.The scenes of killing a loved one, torture, drugging someone were too much. Allegedly the 2nd book in the series is worth the read and has much less of this in it. However, it was a tough read, good but tough.

The first third of the book was extremely slow in my opinion, which is weird because the rest of it was pretty packed. I enjoy fast paced novels, and the ideas and world are very unique. I really enjoyed the plot in the last half. 

I also had problems with some of the connections between characters. Too much build up, not enough actually getting to know them.

I just feel like Feyre and Tamlin barely gave anything the entire first chunk of the book. If it wasn’t for her constantly calling him a beast, and knowing that this was a retelling, I would’ve thought they completely hated each other. And then bam all of a sudden they were flirting and in love. But it wasn’t convincing like I’ve seen done in other stories.

I had heard about the book on TT as being a fairy smut novel, but this turned out to be a great disappointment. Not only for the laxk of smut, but it was an almost copy of The beauty and the beast (but fairy edition). I’m not a huge fan of fairies so if you don’t come into it with an adoration already, save some time and pick up another book
