Thoughts: I had seen this book (and series) EVERYWHERE! But not being a fantasy reader I was hesitant to pick it up. When I purchased the book, the lady at the store said it was a great book if you hadn't read fantasy before and really described and explained the worlds and hierarchy well.

I started this book twice as I just got busy and wasn't prioritising reading.
For my first fantasy read, I really enjoyed it. I was engaged the entire time and didn't once feel like I didn't understand. I did of course Google a few name pronunciations and words for meanings, but I never felt confused or lost.

I liked that there was so much action throughout the book, a lot happened and that kept the plot moving. The characters were likeable, although I was annoyed at some of Feyre's decisions! The beginning definitely reminded me of Beauty and the Beast, but then towards the end I felt Hunger Games vibes.

A few of the scenes were a bit underwhelming and some of the relationships I felt needed more backstory. I'd heard that although ACOTAR is fantasy, it is also smut. I didn't find this book to be as smutty as I expected, but I've heard there's more in the following books.

Overall, I am SO glad I picked this book up. I've heard that the books to follow are SO much better than this one, so I am keen to add them to my TBR. But not going to lie, the size of them does intimidate me.

Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't read fantasy before and wants to give it a go. This is definitely your way to ease in and see if you like it.

It was... fine. It kinda felt like an edgier, more NSFW version of twilight but fairies instead of vampires.

The author uses the phrases "growled" and "snarled" too much. It was a little silly and kinda gave me deviant art furry vibes. But honestly if that's you're thing you do you. You'll probably enjoy this lol.
