rating: ★★★★ - i couldn’t put the book down but not in my top 10 (SPOILERS AHEAD!!)
why i chose this book: a friend of mine loves this author, and ive been hearing buzz about it for at least a year so i figured i should read it if only to see what the fuss was about.
things i liked:
•
Spoiler
nesta's• how careful tamlin is to treat feyre with respect. this is a healthy relationship!!
• feyre getting down w the faerie wine!! yes girl get it
• NO LOVE TRIANGLE W LUCIEN! god bless. he and feyre as friends were amazing
things i disliked:
• the
Spoiler
tamlin-feyre-rhysandSpoiler
rhysand was lowkey boring (at least until he reveals that his status as amarantha's whore was not a consensual one, and then he gets some depth at long last)• HOW EASY AMARANTHA'S RIDDLE WAS. i mean for christ's sake i figured out that the answer was
Spoiler
love• feyre's father being an idiot w no backbone and no redeeming qualities
• the tired "the female mc is the only one who's useful and her sisters are selfish and terrible and willfully helpless and the parents are also shitheads in some way so the mc never gets the credit she deserves" trope. this happens a lot in fantasy like this- if the mc's family isn't dead, they're awful. can we please get another kind
was it worth the money?: yeah! i would say it was. the characterization and plot is good, even if we do get the occasional exposition dump. i would not buy the sequel bc i frankly do not like sequels of any kind when the first book is good because i worry it'll ruin it (and i dont wanna deal w the love triangle continuing). but i would read it again. i liked this a lot.

After weeeeeeeks of my good friend BEGGING me to read ACOTAR, I finally caved and did it.
Wow what a roller coaster.
I have to say that the first half of the book was chockablock of world/scene building, which is absolutely fine as fantasy books require this type of build-up. However, as a result of this, I WAS constantly thinking “when’s the good stuff gonna happen, the stuff that everyone keeps raving about?”
I got there eventually and FLEW through the second half of the book.
Some things were a little unrealistic and made me chuckle (but then again, it’s fantasy so I guess anything is possible!), and I can’t help but notice that we are only really TOLD that Feyre and Tamlin are in love - I don’t feel as though I could SEE it that much. Aside from their burning attraction to each other and few deep convos, there wasn’t much that made me want to desperately ship these two together.
But overall it was a pretty captivating (and passionate😉) read! I’m looking forward ot reading the other books in the series (but won’t lie about the fact that I’m feeling a little apprehensive at the size of the rest of the books (with the exception of ACOFAS)).

My first fantasy book (I’m usually a thriller kinda gal) and I loved it! The ending was perfect and has me wanting to start the next book straight away. I’m surprised there are so many poor reviews ; if this is a low rated book in the fantasy world then maybe I should convert because I was hooked from start to finish :)
¡¡Aaaargh!!
Hacía mucho que no me enganchaba tanto a un libro y que casi veía el amanecer al estar todaa noche leyendo.
Me ha encantado.
