Is this a good book? No, not by any means. Did it hold my attention? Kinda.
Starting this book, I thought it was like a YA high fantasy novel. I was expecting something DND adjacent. No this is just twilight with “fairies” (they are not fairies in any sense of the word. They are closer to werewolves with magic honestly).
It’s a romance book! Huge surprise to me. Not a very good romance book. Every single choice made in the world building is unsubtly made to bring the two protagonist’s together. It’s eyerolling unbearable.
Why did this keep my attention? Well it was like a car crash. It’s insane how unlikeable every single character is and how false the romance elements are. The book deals with rape pretty heavily in very bad taste too. All the rapists in this book are people you are supposed to root for. Rape is the basis of the romance. It’s insane. I wanted to see where the story would go and how they decide to wrap up this terribly flawed story in this pretty inconsistent and needlessly convoluted world. They did not wrap it up good at all. Feyre is an absolute airhead lmao. Bad book! But if you hated it as much as I did then you will probably have fun reading it regardless.

I really liked the world building and the different types of characters and creatures. The suriel description was very vivid and very spooky. The author did a good job of describing the surroundings and bringing that feeling of a magical world into the story.
Feyre is giving katniss vibes. Huntress, sarcastic, scrappy and a bit self sacrificial. The love interest Tamlin, kind of broody and boring. I’m more interested in Lucian and Rhysands story and hopefully I get to know more as I continue the series.
