I can see why this is hailed as one of the best Sherlock Holmes books. Each story is unique and captivating! They are all such good fun and I absolutely love Sherlock’s character

Some stories are fun, some are less interesting. Sherlock himself is much more like-able than modern media would have had me believe, which was a pleasant surprise, honestly.

So pulpy. Personal preference for this genre is H. Rider Haggard, but I felt like I had to read something of this type. Some of the investigations are a bit predictable. I did enjoy that he wasn’t always successful. Kept me guessing a bit. New appreciation for the British rendition with Cumberbatch and Freeman and new dislike for Downey Jr’s rendition, Jude Law not withstanding. Honestly makes it criminal Hugh Laurie had to drop his accent in House though. Whoever wrote that show had the DSM in one hand and Sherlock Holmes in the other. Cultural keystone and now I can say I read some at least so I’m not “that guy.”
