Having grown up in a country where snow is limited to distant mountains, I didn't think I'd be able to relate to this latest instalment of the series, in which Greg and the kids in his neighbourhood experience all the chills, thrills and spills of a North American winter. But thankfully most of the book was more about capturing the zeitgeist, with references to climate change, AI and screen-free time. Plus I got some good chuckles out of Greg's school project on 'Mysterious Malta', his improvisation of a puppet as a winter glove, and a quirky visit to Grandma's empty house with Rowley. The only thing I found annoying was the number of words written in CAPS on each page; my eye (and inner voice) was immediately drawn to them and I found it increasingly distracting and off-putting. That's the kind of gimmick that negatively impacts people's reading experience and development not enhances it.

This started out strong for me - global warming, cyborg takeover all worked, but the back half is just a neighborhood snowball fight.

2019 Reading Challenge: 2/24

I will continue reading this series even though I turn 22 in about a week. Although, I did particularly enjoy this one because of the author disguising a conversation about climate change in a book for children.

Okay I always read these books and so does my brother even though we’re 19 and 17 respectively but we’ve always loved them because they’re so FUNNY and this was no exception. It’s an easy read for me but I really enjoyed it. The situations are so ridiculous that you can’t help but laugh as you read them like an entire street engaging in a war-fare-like snowball fight? Like it’s just so ridiculous it’s hilarious.

So, I enjoyed the book a lot and will definitely be reading the next one, and the next one, and the next one...

Quick Note: How long as Greg even been in middle school??? Can he graduate already? You know how they did those movies (which are equally as funny [I haven’t seen the newest one because I refuse]), they should do one with the original class where Greg goes off to college I just feel like that would be really funny idk.

Read this in French

Lmao yes

My oldest son and I enjoyed this book. We actually laughed as it brings memories of snow wars.

I always enjoy reading these. They're just a lot of fun and always give me a good laugh.

Was soll man groß sagen? Gregs Tagebuch halt.

I just LOVE the Wimpy Kid books. I wish I was part of that epic battle!
