Alpha in progress, Marshall Briggs had been warned by his dad one two many times to reign in his teenage behavior, it could nip him in the butt when he meets his mate. After his first shift, Marshall is back in school for his senior year and getting the feel for his life as a full shifter. However, he never expected to find his mate and the girl who he is meant to spend his life treasuring, is none other than Scarlett who he has spent years bullying along with the whole school.
I liked this one a lot. Scarlett doesn't trust Marshall when he starts being nice to her, she is waiting to see where she becomes the punchline. Marshall is ashamed at his behavior, yes he was young but he intentionally hurt his mate. Quite different from the other Sam Crescent's books I have read so far.

1.5 man-tonight-is-just-not-my-night stars. It’s really not.
I didn’t hate this, but this wasn’t even fine. Like, I don’t remember the last book I’ve read that I’ve been literally so bored to tears with.
Jack is a dick. Marshall is a dick. Trey is... who is he again? Exactly.
One prick, two prick, three prick, four. Where are all the dicks galore?
Yeah, I know that sucked. But really? If the story is that boring... at least gimme some hot smut, yeah? But nope. No juice.
FUCK YOU, JACK. FUCK YOU, MARSHALL. SUCK MY UNWASHED NUTS.

I had this book in my TBR and decided to check it out. Very fast read. I am not into very young adult (17 and 18 years old). The MC are still in high school.
He has bullied her for years because she is 'a fatty' but after the summer holiday (and after his turning to wolf) is becomes clear to him that Scarlett is his mate. Suddenly he is totally into her, is nice to her etc. etc. She is ofcourse suspicious. I would be too.
I did finish it, but it was just OK for me.

I normally don't do bully romance so I'm very confused about why I bought this one, but I did, so I read it.
One of the most interesting things I've found about this story is how Marshall and his friend bullied her. It seemed like the Pack stayed to itself, but the kids went to human high school to learn how to live in the world. I just wondered why they cared so much to go out of their way to bully Scarlett. The bullying was too much for me at one point. I started crying. Scarlett said how she tried to starve herself when dieting didnt work, and it was just a little too close to home for me; I have family that did something similar. Anyway, Marshall realized on the first day of school after his transition that Scarlett was his mate, and the bullying immediately stopped. I wish he had stopped before since he said he was feeling something towards Scarlett before, not love or anything but something. I also felt no sympathy for Marshall. Scarlett could have done more to make him prove himself, and I would have been happy.
Something weird was that they kept saying "wolves don't exist." I was confused if they meant wolves or werewolves. Scarlett said she heard wolves in the woods, but that it was impossible since wolves dont exist. Color me confused.
Overall this was ok. Someone who likes bully romances would enjoy this more than I did.
