I kept finding other things more interesting to do rather than read this book. I forced myself to read it because a) I bought it b) there was a mystery about the Doctor and c) it was a 50th anniversary book.

Anji Kapoor was interesting to follow. All the other characters were flat. I kept confusing this doctor for the 11th Doctor.

The story doesn't make sense by itself, possibly because this is the only 8th Doctor book I've read. I like the movie and the Big Finish audios of him, but this book didn't work for me. This might have been more enjoyable if I had read previous books with the 8th Doctor.

http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/2131876.html[return][return]I liked it a lot, though it is fairly heavy on continuity - the Doctor is still suffering from amnesia, new companion Anji is mourning the death of her boyfriend in the previous volume. This picks up the murderous amusement park referenced in the title, but also lots of mad alien stuff and entertaining misinterpretations of Earth history, all stuff that has also been riffed on by New Who. Rayner is rarely less than solid, and I enjoyed this one a lot, as part of the ongoing Eighth Doctor story arc.

Fun story. I hadn't read much from the 8th Doctor before, but I really enjoyed the story and the cast of characters.

This doctor is confused, and there is a lot going on with the companions. I wish I knew more about all of them! so when school is over, I am Eighth Doctor hunting.

Reading this after 'Fear of the Dark' was perfect! I loved all the characters and I was hooked from the beginning. Would definitely recommend this to everyone who enjoys 'Doctor Who'. I also learned that the Eighth Doctor is probably my second favorite.... for now? :-)

Second time through. This is an odd choice as a selection for 50th anniversary reprint, as there's a lot of context from other books involved. Still, this a bonkers story that's pretty enjoyable and it's clear that Fitz and the Doctor should have something going on.
