Really good mystery, compassionate MC who acknowledges her flaws and whom you always root for, good fluffy romance sub-sub-plot. Love how it deals with the mental and emotional repercussions of dealing with true crime. Couldn't put it down.

don’t understand how people say this is “the boring book” in the series. that last scenes with the events all blurring together in pip’s mind after

stanley’s death

immediately negates any point anybody tries to make by saying that. 

though i kind of feel like stanley wasn’t the best character to do that whole plot with but i understand that introducing a new character might have been weird (and make the twist more predictable). his arc and backstory was also well constructed imo, though maybe the whole serial killer dad thing could have been foreshadowed earlier.

There is something about how Holly Jackson that she is able to write these ya gritty mystery thrillers that are both hopeful and immersive and heartbreaking back to back. I am glad to consume this trilogy one after another.

A great read, had me crying at the end :(. I think the first book was a tad bit better; it had me hooked from the start whereas this one was a bit harder to get into. I still loved the plot overall. I do wish some of the more important parts which linked to the ending were discussed a tiny bit more at the start because it felt like some things just came out of nowhere.

e.g. the Child Brunswick thing

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT:

JUSTICE FOR STANLEY!! HE DESERVED BETTER!! Also poor Pip is gonna suffer from PTSD now :(
