I loved this story. I loved that it brought a real historical figure into the retelling, and that the contrasting ways different pirate ships ran was depicted. This felt like a real thing that could have happened along with a retelling.

A-. I quite liked this one! I didn’t quite buy the falling-in-love between Anh and Xiang but the rest of it was good. I liked the development of life aboard the ship and I honestly liked the twist with her mother.

This was a joy. A queer YA pirate story featuring a Chinese girl and a Vietnamese girl. Family drama and intrigue and personal and relationship growth and adventure and treasure.
