i’d say booktok lied to me, but obviously, this series just wasn’t for me (it still kinda lied, though, by calling this a “romance” which is isn’t at all).
i don’t get the hype at all.

once again the writing was extremely mediocre (bad) and the characters were meh. after 3 books i still don’t feel connected to any of the characters.
the romance plot was very badly done, in my opinion. it felt like the characters not only didn’t have any chemistry, but also disliked each other for 90% of the series and then suddenly liked one another.
additionally, the ”this means nothing” trope also pissed me off.

a 3 for this book in general, and a very generous 0.25 stars for finishing the series.

What is there really to say about this book? I'm honestly struggling to come up with anything constructive. It continues on in the same vein as the previous two, with a plot so absurd as to require huge suspension of disbelief. Even so, it's so engaging, and the characters are so wonderful that none of that really matters. I really cared about what was going on. By the time I got to the third book, I didn't even have the little voice in the back of my head trying to distract me by telling me how unbelievable it all was. I was just so invested in the Foxes and their well being that it didn't matter. I was in 100% and on the edge of my proverbial seat the entire time.

I found the resolution of the plot to be satisfying, if somewhat startling. It was realistic in the sense that it made sense in the context of this very unreal world. Also, I found the development of Andrew and Neil's relationship to be immensely gratifying. If I'm being honest, by the time I got here, I was far too invested in the characters to really make an objective review. I loved them so much, and I deeply appreciated the way this volume wrapped up this part of their story. It was a frustrating, melodramatic, riveting ride, and I'm very glad to have taken it. It's not a series that everyone will be into, for various good reasons, but it's one that I really connected with and enjoyed, and it will stick with me for a long time.

Okay so I'm finally giving this a proper score after not being able to even give a rating for the previous books in the series. That doesn't mean I quite know how to feel about this one either though lol

I think that, despite spending my first fanfiction-reader-years on Wattpad, this series is a little too extreme for my taste. This series' way of always choosing violence and snarky comments over every other possible strat made me nearly lose my mind and caused almost all of my journal entries to be in all caps including words like "WHY" and "WTF".

Every single character got under my skin and on my nerves and every single time they earned a positive point on my scoreboard, I had to take it off because of some othet stupid shit they pulled. Andrew and Neil's relationship especially made me question why they kept hanging around each other and had me feel absolutely NOTHING. 😭

I feel like it says a lot that in this sports-mafia-drama with LGBTQIA+ rep, I (who usually has a negative amount of interest in sports) enjoyed the descriptions of the Foxes' games the most. (Also the TROJANS !!! Absolutely lovely! We meet them for like ~a minute~ but damn they might have saved my entire experience with this book lol)

One thing that I have to give Nora though, is that she has the balls to kill off any character without blinking an eye, or hesitating. I can sleep well at night knowing I will never be able to put any of my OCs through the absolutely insane hell that she does to hers. So, um, thanks for that, Nora lol

2020 review:

these characters truly are just absolutely insane, but through this trilogy i actually did find myself getting super attached to them. i thought this was a good end to the series, and i'm sure i'll miss these characters, but i'm just gonna close my eyes and pretend they live perfectly happy lives somewhere (they don't. but i want them to).
