SYNOPSIS:
  • Twenty years ago, a baby was snatched right out of a stroller in a supermarket. In present day, someone is murdered in a nursing home. How are these related? You’ll have to read to find out!
  • The four POVs + connected folks are:
    • Patience: an 18 year old working at a nursing home.
    • Edith: an elderly woman living at a nursing home.
    • Clio: a therapist.
    • Frankie: a prison librarian

MY THOUGHTS
  • This marks the 5th book I’ve read by Feeney. I think there’s only one I haven’t read yet of hers. I love her writing style. Her books flow nicely, and I typically get through them pretty quickly. I made it through this one in a day.
  • Feeney does a great job developing characters & is an expert at plotting a good thriller.
  • This kept my attention throughout, and I kept wanting to see how everything was connected. I enjoyed how little details are sprinkled throughout & everything starts coming together.
  • Although some aspects of the story are predictable, it didn’t take away the enjoyment for me.
  • The ending was okay. Not amazing, but not bad.
  • I am a sucker for complex family relationships, and there’s a lot of those in this one.
  • There are multiple POVs & multiple timelines in this one.

TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️hard to put down. interwoven POVs of 4 women & 2 crimes. finished in a day. ending wasn’t amazing, but enjoyed the book.

Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

Genre: Thriller

About 305 pages

Four women. Three suspects. Two murders. And one missing woman. Edith, Frankie, Clio, and Patience are all good bad girls. These women are connected by two things: a missing baby from 20 years ago and a woman murdered in a care home. Each wants to solve the murders and disappearance for their own selfish reasons…

I had to keep the summary brief for this one because otherwise, it would give too much away, but WOW. This book started a little slow but ended with a bang. I loved figuring out how each of the women was connected to one another and specifically loved Edith and Patience’s characters. Every time I thought I knew where we were going, Feeney threw in another twist. I definitely got confused at times, so this is a book where you really need to put your thinking cap on while reading it, but I would highly recommend it!

Favorite Quote: “Time can be borrowed, wasted, or stolen. Time can bend or break, it can hurt or heal. Time can rewrite history. But time is too precious to be taken.”

At first, I was having a hard time keeping the characters straight, but about halfway through, I finally figured out who everyone was, and was able to settle in and enjoy the story. I felt like this book was written by Lisa Jewell, rather than Alice Feeney, as it was more like a domestic drama/suspense than a thriller. And I would recommend this one to those who like that genre.

I really enjoyed this book, and while some parts were predictable others weren't. The characters were unlikable but in a way that made them enjoyable not ones you hate.
The narrators were good, but their voices were too similar and made it harder to keep track of whose POV you were in if you came back to the book in the middle of a chapter. Luckily the chapters were named for the character whose POV it was from.
Overall a good book, I just wish it had been a bit less predictable.
