Time of death 60%

I believe I am years late to this story.

Upto 60% and I still don't get it? The writing is just so-so and the pacing weird and it's sex, sex, spanking, beating. Ugh!

Then we have the FBI storyline?........

I have to be honest, BAMF and I didn't become BFF, or BF, or even just Fs. I think the only part of the BAMF acronym I'd call accurate was the B. Yeah, it was B. Confused? You probably should be.

Now, the writing was fine. The editing was fine. Individually, the characters were fine. But the story...the story sucked BAMFing lemons. The reader is presented with a pierced, tattooed, supposedly BAMF guy, who then immediately turns into a clumsy, flustered, stalker bottom. The geeky librarian wasn't a geeky librarian for more than a chapter or so. Then we're given a whole false plot arc with the campus bully that is pretty quickly dropped for something more (that was pretty obvious, to boot). But even that only lasts a couple chapters and then we're all tossed off into cheesy domestic bliss-land, as the men turn into BAMFing saps, flirt, fall in love, have a lot of unrealistically rough sex, etc. Then when that finally comes to it's predictable anticlimactic conclusion, they drop their previous BAMF dispositions to start spouting of "I love you" left and right. (And all this love stuff started before there was really anything for them to love. It came out of nowhere, only later being supported.)

I know some people like this kind of thing, but I'm not one of them. The book felt cobbled together, with the plot jumping from one drama to the next such that it just felt like an excuse to throw the characters together. Nothing felt solid or consistent. Plus, after about 60% it really drug and I just found myself bored.

Again, this is all just a matter of what one prefers in a story. But I didn't care for this one.

I really enjoyed this, although it was not what I was expecting at all. It is not an NA romance about a bad boy and a geek, and I think it is only fair to warn people what it is actually about.

Although occasionally I was reminded how young the characters were, probably in their early twenties, it felt like a normal adult romance. And it was also somewhat of a suspense, because a few chapters in you find out that Alex is actually
Spoilera cop in witness protection, when the bullets start flying, and they have to go on the run together
. It doesn't take long at all to realize that Alex is the badass one of the two of them.

Before meeting Alex, Ridley thought of himself as a dominant bottom. But that shit just aint gonna fly with Alex. Alex dominated the hell out of him on their first encounter, and their second, and I would imagine every encounter after that. But unfortunately, we only got to see two sex scenes, and then no more. I was just waiting and waiting, because the first two were super intense and awesome. But there were no more after that and I was very disappointed, especially since the first two were before they had developed feelings for each other.

But I still really enjoyed this. It had an alternating POV, and a lot of cute and funny moments. I enjoyed see Ridley fall for Alex. Even though he was originally attracted to him for his cute and nerdy persona, he eventually fell for his badassery too.

I'm late to the party reading this book and there are lots of reviews already out there. But for me, I loved the twist - Ridley's mistaken first impression of Alex. I really enjoyed the rough sex. I loved the relationship development - it was very well done.

Like others, I did not care for the ending and took off points. The story was 5 stars for me until the end, so I was really disappointed. It was rushed and unsatisfying. It was not an HEA, even though it was an epilogue. First, even though it was important to him, we never got closure on Alex's coming home to his family. The decision of living in Louisiana was illogical - location away from family, Ridley giving up his scholarship ME college program, location away from Alex's current career and Ridley's future career. Maybe Ms. Peterson can rewrite the ending and rerelease it at a future date. 3.5 stars rounded up.

So I don't think BAMF was really for me.

I felt a bit uncomfortable about the start of their relationship to be honest. While I like me a bit of rough nookie as much as the next person I think the recipient of said rough nookie almost crying in the shower is a bit too rough for my liking.

Alex was a bit of a dick and while he did redeem himself somewhat I just couldn't forget his behavior.

I liked Ridley but I was disappointed with how easily he let Alex walk all over him.

A few minor plot issues makes this one a below average read for me.

I'm totally in the minority with this book though so again:

Too much of a pain kink for me. I couldn't stomach any more; it made me nauseated. Plus the MC was too much of a chauvinist and I didn't like the derogatory descriptions of the female characters.

Really enjoyed this one. Love bossy in charge Alex, and the twist on the "nerdy" librarian. Love Ridley who just wants Alex so much he becomes a babbling clumsy "dork" around him. The book totally ends up changing tones and genres a little bit. But I didn't mind. I was wondering and waiting for something to happen and then it did. Loved the ending.
