Finally adding the review bc the Harper Collins workers have a new contract !! Yay!!

Like yeah it’s sexy but also I’m choosing to think of this book as an examination of the nature of fandom and the limits suspended reality. It’s really about parasocial relationship and the people that exist  inside of the creation that you’ve made for them. How do we balance the perceived with the real especially when both objects of affections were initially idealized romantic fantasies? Was this the intended emotional resonance for this book? Maybe? But I’m taking it in with  some levity and some extremely powerful rose colored glasses

I loved that this book was a Hallmark after dark type of book but I was honestly expecting a bit more? For example, love that the protagonists are both bi icons - at least, that's what we kept being told but never shown. I would have liked to see more exploration of this aspect of their characters seeing as it was mentioned so often. There is a bit of a para-social relationship between them that also requires further examination, but it was hot and sweet. Though they moved way too fast for my liking!

this was a cute, steamy holiday read. overall I enjoyed it, but it wasn't my favorite for some reason. I did love how well the next books were set up and will definitely be reading all of them!!

How do I love this book, let me count the ways!

1) it uses the vehicle of a porn star acting undercover in a wholesome Christmas movie to dissect the virgin/whore dichotomy
2) it addresses toxic celebrity culture and parasocial relationships
3) the porn star heroine's two moms love her unconditionally, are proud of her and support her regardless of her career choices
4) addresses fatphobia and slut-shaming
5) if you ever had a teenage crush on a boy band member, this book is for you
6) sex in a church, 'nough said
7) just excellent raunchy spicy scenes in general
8) enthusiastic consent!
9) good communication
10) a touch of slow burn will-they-or-won't-they forbidden angst
11) lots of light and fluffy sweet moments but also insightful depth and touching moments
12) his dedication to his family! so wonderful
13) their dynamic - fun and light but they also understand each other so well
14) so many laugh-out-loud moments, especially because of all the porn staff working on the Hallmark-y movie set. Three words: fall front breeches!
15) Bee's relationship with her best friend Sunny is so lovely. And the fur baby!!
16) Nolan's relationships with his fellow boy band members. I will read all of their books
17) her manager! His manager! Them together!
18) everything being wrapped up in the most satisfying way. How the final act comes together and the epilogue can make or break a book, and this one absolutely stuck the landing
19) fantastic audiobook performance
20) cute graphics at each chapter! I love art throughout books
21) both leads are bi! And not just mentioned once to add diversity bi, actually built into the story representation

In conclusion, this was one of my favourite reads for 2022 and everything I want and more from a holiday book, I will be recommending it to anybody who will listen. If you're looking for a fun, funny, sexy, smart holiday read, this is the book for you!

A light festive fun read. Though it was light on the festivity!

A sex worker (Bee) gets cast into a hallmark-esque movie after an injury with the lead. She has a huge crush on the male lead (Nolan) who is an child star - boy band. Nolan is an avid watcher of Bee/Bianca’s Only Fans (or whatever this book names it).

It’s a nice FWB to lovers trope with the added drama of trying to keep their relationship and backgrounds hidden. There are a lot of real life issues mentioned between fatphobia, sex work, mental health and sexuality - possibly a few too many to fit into this kind of book though which is why it’s lost a few stars from me. I’d have preferred it to stick to the fatphobia and sex work which were main themes.

That being said - it was nice to have sexuality mentioned and just be a part of the characters lives without it being a main focus, and to accept that just because bi characters are in heterosexual relationships it doesn’t make them any less bi which a lot of books seem to miss.

I enjoyed the steam in this book too! I’ve read a few reviews of surprise about the amount of steam - but I don’t understand why people are surprise that there’s a lotta steam in a book centred around sex workers!!

All in all, a nice read, but don’t expect something you can’t put down or a literary great!

I’ve never encountered hornier book characters.
