Really not her best book and very unlike her style of writing. I kind of liked the idea behind the book but something about just didn't do it for me and was left feeling disappointed.

The brightest star in the sky is pretty much okay. The story revolves round the loves and lives of the residents of 66 star street narrated by a very fun spirit. The characters are all very lovable and each of their parts are very well written and nicely interwoven. But I found the book not-so-gripping...it took me quite a while to finish the book and by the prologue I sensed a loss of patience. Its a bit dragging and despite that I was curious to see what happens to all the characters, but nothing out of the box,all kind of predictable. Nevertheless a good piece of work where serious issues are dealt entwined with love and humour.

Loved this book! Very smart and original. Keeps you guessing til the last page. If you are confused, don't worry, it will make sense at the end.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews At first I was very confused as to what was happening in this book. There were lots of characters and I wasn’t quite sure who was narrating. This made it difficult for me to really get into this book.

I found the first third of the book really hard to read. But I persevered and the story really started to get interesting around the half way mark.

My favourite characters were Katie and Lydia.

Lydia acted like she didn’t care and had this big attitude but deep down she did.

Katie I felt sorry for, she clearly loved Conall but he just couldn’t give up his work.

I couldn’t understand what was going on with Matt and Meave. I was very confused for a long time. When I understood I felt very sorry for both of them.

I didn’t really like Fionn. I found him quite irritating and his ego was too big.

I loved the ending to this book. It was a perfect way to tie everything up.

I love Marian's ability to bring so many characters to life with such richness. This book is no exception to this skill. It combines hope, love, sadness and happiness while being told in a unique way by a mystery voice.

Not really up to standard in my opinion- a ghostly narrator telling the stories of those that live at 66 Star Street, a dog with monologues. Very light and fluffy, then dark and depressing for the last 100 pages. I felt like this was the synopsis for several books and cobbled together into one book halfway through. The short chapters (or 'days') wasted a lot of space so the book isn't as long as you would think looking at the thickness.
Read Anybody Out There? or The Other Side of the Story- so much better in terms of plot, characterisation...well, everything really.

The story started out slow to me and I have a hard time remembering who characters are when there are so many. Once I really got into the book I loved it. It was a great story about a group of people and how their lives intertwine.
