I LOVED THIS BOOK! I loved it so much I'm buying my own copy after checking it out from the library! It's not just an enthralling memoir about one of the greatest American runners of all time. It's also a potent and JOYFUL demonstration of the power of positive thinking, mindfulness, and other cognitive behavioral principles to live a better life.
So many athlete memoirs are about struggle and overcoming struggle. That's fine! It's inspiring. It makes the optimism and cheerfulness of "Let Your Mind Run" shine even brighter, because it's such a tonal shift from the typical genre format. And in my opinion, none of it is saccharine or fake. Deena is tough as nails and you see that throughout the book. I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for not just a terrific memoir, but also successful applications of positive psychology in high-stakes situations.

This was an inspirational book and perfect for me as I begin the journey to become a stronger runner. So much of it is mental and I really appreciated her insights into looking to the positive and overcoming setbacks.
