4.47 AVERAGE

Honestly everyone needs a SUWA in their lives!! He is a fuckin angel he needs to be protected! 💗
And takeru' chapter was the sadest thing and I can actually relate to most of what he thinks and feels, im that kind of person who overthink who blame themselves first anything who doesnt say what they really feel who doesnt wanna borther others.
But they did it they saved him they created a world where Kakeru is alive and happy

I can't comprehend how much I loved this series. I cried so much and the ending was so beautiful

5/5 stars

If you ever cry alone again...or even if the day comes where you just find living to be painful...then I promise I'll save you again and again.

This was such a cute and heartwarming but at the same time heartbreaking read. I had the best experience reading it, and the idea behind this manga was in my opinion beautiful. The plot was very smooth but the sci fi element totally made sense and was carefully wrapped around it, influencing everything that happened. It was a contemporary story with a few sci fi elements, and it also dealt with mental illness. It has a trigger for mentions of suicide and suicidal thoughts, so if any of you are not in the right place to read it, do not. If you do not mind reading it now, I totally recommend it, though ♥

The characters were so well made, fleshed out and nicely written and drawn, and they all had multiple layers and faults, but also strong points and beautiful, beautiful hearts. Naho, the main character, as well as Kakeru, the main love interest, got such a huge character development, that was a result for both their own personal growth but also the help they offered to each other. Suwa, another very important character, bloomed throughout the story and showed the reader that some times, we should move away from the things we love, for a greater purpose. The rest of the characters were also perfectly spun, and their friendship was the most adorable thing ever.

The art was also really interesting, as it was cute but turned darker with the characters who had dark thoughts. The portrayal of depression was very, very realistic, as it involved mood swings, lack of motivation, feelings of helplessness and self-hate, constant fear and a difficulty to communicate feelings. I was really glad to see that it was done right, as the representation of mental illness in stories is very important for the world to understand how it works and help their loved ones who might experience it.

The friendship, as I slightly mentioned before was so cute that it warmed me like the most comfortable sweater. The bonds between the characters were strong, beautiful and full of mutual understanding and helping. They were all here for each other, constantly put themselves in each other's shoes and were not afraid to admit their feelings. It was so refreshing to see meaningful platonic relationships between men, as well as beautiful relationships between women.

Overall, it was such a beautiful manga, sunshine warm and lollipop sweet and very, very important, and I totally recommend during Christmas ♥

I actually finished this 2 days ago (14th September). MILD SPOILERS.

Even though I cannot deny this was very heart warming and made me smile and laugh on several occasions, I have to admit I was expecting a little bit more from the plot. This manga has received many positive reviews, which now I can see were based on the emotions that it causes and the empathy you feel toward several characters.

Regarding the plot, it wasn't very complicated. Yes, there is time travel involved, but exactly this somehow complicated aspect of the story is never really explained. The letters are sent to the past just because. Besides that, is a typical slice of life manga with a group of 16-year-old teenagers that live their high school years creating memories that will last forever, blah, blah. It may sound as if I think it's stupid haha but what I am actually trying to say is that is simple. Simple doesn't necessarily mean bad, mind you.

The characters are amazing, though. Everybody has something special and likable about them. I was a biiiiiit disappointed that Hagita and Azu never got to get together during the story (but I hope they eventually did) because I SHIPPED THEM REALLY HARD.

All in all, read this if you want to feel a lot of feelings (good and bad) but don't really care about a well-thought plot. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Ooooooo this volume had my heart racing and my tears running all the way to the very damn end! This series. Just omg!!!! Love it! Even the mini story that occurred at the end of each volume, I was in love with!! I didn't want this to end and I still want more. I wish it had shown them ten years later at the end so that's the only downer. That and I need more!!!

This graphic novel may be YA fiction because of the setting and the characters, but the feelings it evokes are strong enough for any adult! If you aren't familiar with Japanese culture, then parts of this novel may seem a little odd or cringe-y in the beginning. But trust me, it is worth sticking through. This story is one of friendship, loss, love, and resilience. The story deals with suicide, guilt, and the difficulty in moving on from a traumatic event. I am not ashamed to admit that I was sobbing like a baby throughout the novel. Naho is a timid character, and sometimes her timidity can be exasperating. But she changes throughout the novel, realizing that she needs to become more bold and assertive in order to be there for the people she loves. Every character in this story has depth and they are just so .... loveable and amazing! I'm still not in the right frame of mind to coherently write down my thoughts, but the main point I'm saying here is that this manga has a depth to it that I have rarely seen in others in this genre, or even in regular fiction. It has its funny moments, and its cheesy moments, and it's cute to see teen love bloom. But it shows how strong the bonds of friendship can be, and how difficult it can be to be a teenager. Maybe the story hit me as hard as it did because my teenage years were also difficult (not as difficult as in this story, though) but it is still well-written, well developed, and aesthetically beautiful. If you have never tried manga, then start with this one because it is absolutely fantastic!

Warnings: attempted suicide

Rep: Depression rep

So, in this finale book, things are getting closer to the date when Kakeru attempted suicide. We get two versions of events, one of the original timeline, from the start, in snapshots, through Kakeru's eyes, and what led him to that day, and the present time, as they, reasonably assured that they have given him enough happy memories and hope to live for, are still nervous about the day itself. It is tense, and a lot about love and support, but we get to a nice conclusion. We also see how they all in the future had sent back the letters in the past (less scifi and more fantasy, in that aspect, I gotta say). The portrayal of Kakeru's depression was realistically written, and I loved how all of their friendships have supported him in the current timeline. There are a few tear-jerker moments, too, but I will leave that to you to discover for yourself.

I have so much love for this series! It's not something I would have picked up myself, so I'm really thankful to Cate who recommended it to me!
