Approvatissimo!

Kings of the Wyld perfectly evokes the feelings of nostalgia that anyone with a life well-lived would recognize. The characters are ridiculously endearing, well-developed, and lovable in the case of our heroes and friends, and at the very least fascinating and intriguing in the case of our foes. The humor is impeccable and hooked me even before the plot did. The descriptions of settings and events are memorably unique, be they beautiful or grotesque, even for a book that refuses to take itself and its genre too seriously. Anyone who loves the atmosphere of D&D among funny friends will take to this book like a fish to water. There are solemn moments treated with the appropriate gravitas, but it never feels like we're stuck in melancholy for too long. The family dynamic of the adventurers, their inherent good nature, and the love they continuously express for each other in various ways are all aspects that made this book so captivating. I cannot recommend this book enough, as it easily vaulted over any other book I've read to take its place as my favorite I have ever had the joy of reading.
I highly suggest the audiobook, read by Jeff Harding- his dynamic voice acting and character voices had me so engaged, and I laughed harder at the delivery of the funniest parts because of his skill!

Moderate: Domestic abuse and Murder
The portion that describes the domestic violence Clay's mother suffered through is brief in length, but the descriptions are heart-wrenching and could definitely trigger someone who is sensitive to this topic. It can be easily skipped over, however, and does not take away from the plot; it mostly happens as a fever-dreamlike sequence after Clayachillea's review against another edition

I fully went into this expecting it to be about Manly Men hating their wives- I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised with what I got.

Violence is due to the nature of the book being about bandits/mercenaries.planreadrepeat's review against another edition

Picture a troupe of warriors who have retired from their glory days grown old. Grouping up for one last adventure to help a friend and maybe save the world. There are adult themes in this book. Not the sex (hardly any and nothing graphic), some cursing, but it's the so relatable of looking back at youthful glory years (with some regrets) by older guys. Plus cracking knees, sore back, and missing family. At parts laugh out loud funny and at others reflective and emotional, this was an epic read.
