A fresh take on race and how biases can influence our decisions throughout life.  It wasn't a predictable book and kept me interested throughout.

At first I wasn't so sure what it was trying to say but then everything creeps in on you and sucks you in. I thought it was subtle enough with race issues that it didn't seem like it smacked you in the face but made you really think about it. I thought the characters were all believable and Briar added comedic relief which was great. I really enjoyed this book and would read more from Kiley Reid.

The characters are beautifully realised and I felt like I could understand each of their perspectives. Close to perfect

At times I thought, oh, this is a little intense and, dare I say, scary, but it was actually systemic racism.

This book was so messy from the start y'all!! I'm not gonna lie, the ending did kinda throwed me off but i do feel like it needed to end that way. Yes this book is by a black author for those who wanted to know. It's about a Black babysitter who watches a rich white wife kids and she gets accused of kidnapping her children. That's all I'm gonna say about the book because there's a lot more to that book.

This book balanced humour and hope with a dark, reflective subject matter. I loved main character, Emira, and constantly rooted for her. The two side characters of Kelley and Alix are so important in the sense that you definitely know people like them and maybe you are a little bit them, but they infuriate you and disappoint you. It discusses race and privilege in such a nuanced and personal story that felt so relatable and connected.
