i still love margot douaihy’s writing and i love sister holiday, but i did not get what i wanted from this sequel :/ the first book was so amazing at giving us glimpses into different people/parts of sister holiday’s life, and when i learned there was a sequel, i thought that we’d surely get deeper and more personal with sister holiday’s relationships (with nina, rosemary, even moose, who does show up in book 2 but who we don’t get a satisfying amount of screen time with). also, the mystery didn’t superrrrrr land for me. there’s one reveal that is really good but was super rushed — in this book and the first one, the reveal comes within the last ten pages of the book. that’s not enough time for the eventual fall out, aka the fun part! regardless, if there are more books in this series, i will certainly read them (and i will always keep tabs on whatever miss margot will write). that is all!

This series works better in audio, for me. The audio medium helps the noir vibe than straight reading.

That said, the good part of the book is that I remembered very little from book one, and that was okay! This book's plot also moves.

The downside is that there are a lot of characters that are all minimally developed. Also, there wasn't an emotional impact for any character deaths in this book.

I'll probably pick up future books because they are quick, but I'll make sure to listen to the audio.
