I really enjoyed the combination of semi-post-apocolyptic, murder mystery, mysterious backstory, and fantasy.
There are a lot of characters in this book that aren't really introduced, they are just in the next scene when the main characters need help with something. That makes it clear the detectives are well-connected but a sudden new character can be jarring. I flipped through the book a few times looking for where I missed a new character's introduction.
