This one took me so long to finish reading because the show came out (so I binged it, of course) AND I was dealing with the symptoms from Moderna dose #2, but I FINALLY FINISHED THE TRILOGY.
Overall, this and Siege and Storm were clearly the best written novels of the series. I'm not entirely happy with how it ended just because it's so, so typical, but I knew that going into the trilogy that this wasn't Bardugo's best work. That being said, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and delving into this world. I can't wait to start reading Six of Crows!

This book could have been so good, but alas, it was not. Very disappointed, I'm glad everyone warned me it was bad before I read it though, so at least I was prepared.
second read:
yeah. the end is still shit. i didn't even read the 'after' bit this time bc i do not care.

I really liked this series. I was captivated till the very end. I was slightly disappointed with the last book though. What was Alina's back story and how is she connected to the Darkling? He was the most interesting character of the series and he ends up on the back burner of this book. Also it doesn't make sense for Mal to come back to life, none of the other amplifiers did. It just seemed like a quick fix so she could have a happy ending. I loved how the series does some twists and turns that you don't expect. Loved the characters. Definitely recommend the series!
