Behind the Red Door is a well written thriller that... falls victim to what many thrillers do, it was too predictable (from very early on). Even that being said, I still enjoyed it! It was a breath of fresh air during my COVID reading slump. Not quite as good as The Winter Sister, but still a very solid read from Megan Collins.

I was kind of disappointed in this book! I felt like the ending was so obvious, and the plot didn't have much going on. It was a quick read, but I kind of regret finishing it. Should've DNFed

despite the twist being incredibly obvious, i was enjoying this, up until the last-minute
"lesbians are so desperate to have a kid they'll fake a kidnapping" thing (i swear to god i've run into this trope before and it always reads as homophobia - nothing more evil than wanting an 'unnatural' baby!) and the "clearly this evil person has narcissistic personality disorder" thing,
which was, like, one paragraph, but made me so mad i nearly dropped the book at like 98% out of annoyance.  like, i know i'm not reading my popcorn thrillers for sensitive handling of these subjects, but, like, ouch.

I liked it a lot until the end. Her other 2 books were definitely better.

3.5 stars. This book kept me enthralled the whole time. The main characters anxiety was palpable and you felt it along with her for the entire wild ride. A nice, quick, anxiety ridden tale about family and trauma and how it shapes us. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed the writing style but I completely predicted the ending pretty early on in the book. Unfortunately, I think this took away from the story a bit because I didn’t get that twist that I think you are supposed to experience.
