As someone who saw the adaptation first, I can say I really appreciate the book in all its detail: there is a lot of information to build up the story and give the reader an understanding of each character in all their flaws and complexities. It was very good at keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Adele is a genius of sorts, but Louise is an admirable character at times as well, with David in the middle and, while having a hand in the plot, is really stuck between them.
The spiritual/supernatural element is very prominent and is a huge reason for this story catching my eye in the first place.

I thought this was interesting, and I'm excited to see the TV series version of it. Same comment that I've made about Ms. Pinborough before -
it just doesn't make a tremendous amount of sense to throw in supernatural elements into a very real-world story. It almost feels like not incredibly well-thought-out writing? Like there was no way to wrap the plot up in this world, so it has to enter the next?

Honestly this was entertaining but it was also kind of boring at the same time. Nothing thrilling really happened so I kept wondering like what was gonna happen and what was the point. But the ending I did not see coming at all and I was shocked. I don’t know if I necessarily like it but I didn’t see it coming so there’s that.

What the f*** did I just read?!?!?
I'm actually still hysterically laughing because of the ending. It's not that often that an ending actually gets me.
First I thought this would be a regular domestic thriller and I don't really like them that much. The whole cheating plot just annoyed me. But I loved the different perspectives and the feeling that there is something off. And then things got interesting when an element was introduced, I wasn't expecting. Luckily I love these kind of elements in books. When I got the vague idea what the title refers to at about 50% of the book, I was all invested. Hahaha, little did I know then. It blew my mind when I realised what the title actually means. And then again at the very end when I realised what it ACTUALLY actually means. I just think it's genius. The way everything is plotted and fits perfectly together at the end. That's my favourite thing in books. I love love LOVE how subtle all the hints were that you actually could never guess the ending but once you know it you see all those details flashing before your eyes. ;)
This book is definitely one of my all time favourites now.
