This a really good ya mystery. It's different from typical ya mysteries, the ending isn't obvious from the first chapter, the story is told from a male pov, the love interest is a sexual girl who makes no apologies for her bad girl ways. The male pov is realistic and it was fun being in Max's head.

I loved the The Art of Lainey and this is so different. I will definitely be reading the next thing written by Paula Stokes.

Too many plot twists that caused the book to feel like it was trying too hard to shock me with the plot rather than just tell a good story.

The book started slow but had very likeable characters, and I found the deeper I got the more I couldn't put it down and I wanted to know the ending and how Max would find the killer. This book had it all: lies and murder and conspiracy and the questions of guilt vs innocence, who are your really friends & can you trust anyone. Really I loved it.

This book was a DNF (Did Not Finish).

Usually I have a 50 page rule before I put down a book but there are some situations where I will put it down before that. The reason I didn't like the book because there was Sex. Sex. Sex. and more Sex. I was really disappointed because I wanted to love this book so much. The murder mystery aspect sounded amazing but why all this nasty Sex stuff? I mean it's hard to avoid in most fiction but there is a difference between it being sort of mentioned but not showed and right up in your face and is kinda impossible to skip cause its one scene after another. The first 4 chapters were nothing but all up in your face sex, sadly and that is why I had to put the book down.

Really liked this book. A good refreshing YA book, kinda reminds me of PLL a little. what with all the secrets and what not. The main character is getting framed for a murder it seems. I really think the author could have done a little more to make everyone seem like a suspect. I felt the ending was a tad rushed since i spent hours reading about Max and his adventures trying to find out who murdered the victim. I really like Max's girlfriend, Parvati. She was hard core (though maybe a little too OTP at times). But I guess having a military dad can do that to a girl.

Strong start & suspense factor, but then it drops off at the end.
