For an epistolary novella, I was really impressed by this. It’s a story about a man and a woman exchanging letters after they realized that their significant others are having an affair. TJR apparently loves cheating husbands because this is a common trope, but I was impressed by how she did this story. For a novel written in letters, she was really good at packing the emotion in. There obviously wasn’t a ton of characterization, but somehow she managed to still get you to feel for the characters and create a plot. I think if you like Jenkins Reid’s other works, you will like this.

I'm not generally a fan of short stories because I feel like there's never enough time to connect to the characters or the story to invoke any sort of emotion, but leave it to Taylor Jenkins Reid to be the author that makes me sob in less than 100 pages. God, I love her writing so much.
"I'm sorry for what you are going through. You are correct when you say that we don't know each other, but right now it feels like you're the only one who understands."

I felt so sad for Carrie at the beginning of the story. I think the ending is good for both Carrie and David. It's a good quick read. I recommend reading this short story.
