It's not often that artists can change medium and be successful - look at Michael Jordan's baseball career. From the beginning, it seemed like this was going to be the train wreck I had expected, but still I kept reading to see how it would play out. I was surprised when I found myself staying up way later than normal turning the pages. At the end, I went back to the beginning and re-read the first few chapters to put it all back together. It's not literature to be sure, but I was definitely entertained.

I will add a 1/2 star to the review so 3 and a 1/2 stars total. Not a bad job for a debut novel by someone who people would consider not a writer. Bobby Hall a.k.a. Logic is a rap artist who has been nominated for a Grammy award. I will be honest that I only picked up this book because I saw him on the Daily Show and I love his rap music.

The beginning of the book was all over the place and was a bit confusing and I didn't really like that he would tell some of the story and then go back. Mentally once I was able to get my bearings on the novel the rest of the story was enjoyable and it created a picture for me of someone who struggles with mental illness.

I enjoyed the book.

Someone let me borrow this book because it’s one of their favorites and I totally get why. I get why some people may not like this but I thought it was a pretty fun read. Loved the fourth wall being broken. I think it portrayed mental illness without only perpetuating negative stereotypes so that was a plus. I do think it’s funny that this is written by Logic.

I listened to the audiobook version of Supermarket and I liked how you weren't entirely sure what was real and what wasn't. Maybe the whole thing was in his head?

Terribly bad. Interesting idea, horribly executed. Really hard to get through.

I got like two chapters in and in that short time the main character was blatantly racist towards a black woman three times without remorse. This alongside the "humor" had me losing interest very quickly.

I can’t decide if this book was terrible, or brilliant.

I don't know if I have ever hated a book more. Awful writing, pretentious, racist/prejudice, misogynistic, terrible mental illness representation, predictable, and just an absolute frustrating time.

I would have DNF'ed it but decided to skim read the last 100 pages instead - it wasn't worth it.
