By far one of the best books I've read recently!!
Bobby Hall's writing style is amazing, he breaks the fourth wall making it so much more personal and adds so much depth to the main character Flynn. He also has a contents page at the beginning which I haven't seen in a fiction book before which was interesting I actually liked it being there.
It deals with big topics such as schizophrenia in such a good way. He deals with the harm of the illness while also adding some light to it. The subplot of romance just adds soo much to this book it really makes the characters much more lovable.
There are just so many layers to this book I can't even begin to describe I just love it and I think it could be my favourite book of 2023.
I would recommend this to anyone but advise them to read the trigger warnings beforehand.

The story- 10/10. The writting .5/10. It felt like a high schoolers long term creative writting project.

Honestly, Logic is one of my favorite rappers. Been listening to his music going on 7+ years now. But this book was completely predictably. 60 pages in and I already knew what was going to happen so many chapters later. I feel bad but I can't see how people are giving this 5 stars when I barely want to give it 2. I'm on the fence of even switching it to 3.

I honestly felt I was reading Fight Club just with different characters and nothing about fighting, just in a supermarket. I feel like Bobby should have spent a little more time with the story and developing it. I honestly didn't like the whole third-person dialogue that would happen in the middle of a describing a scene. I knew what he was trying to accomplish but I thought it was drawn out more than it needed to be.

While I know this is his first book and I'm completely happy for him, this book was unoriginal and in certain parts he tried to hard. Some of the characters made my eyes roll on the dialogue that happened between them and even trying to describe the "sex scenes", if you can even call them that. There were plenty of times where you knew the main character would prevail in his "mission" and I did not like that at all. I couldn't feel happy for the main character prevailing in his "mission" as I knew it would happen reading the first two chapters.

All in all, it was okay but I would not read it again. One and done for me.

3,5.

Okay, the reviews that I’ve seen for this book aren’t great, but I truly loved it.

I will say that the writing can be a bit choppy, like when he reminds you that you’re reading a book or when Flynn (and other characters) feel the need to say each other’s names in literally every sentence of their dialogue with one another.

HOWEVER, I have never read a psychological book told from such a witty, darkly comical perspective, and I really enjoyed it. Being a psych major, I am obviously obsessed with the world of mental health, and the unique “loop” that Flynn lives in as a result of his schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder was just so fascinating to me.

So overall, if you’re looking for a book that is phenomenally written from strictly a literary point of view, then you might find a lot of flaws in this book. But if you’re going into it strictly for the uniqueness and fascination of the plot, then I think you’ll love it.

Didn’t love the writing, you can tell this is the authors first book, and the beginning was very very choppy. However, this story had a view on mental health in a way I’ve never read before and I found that part very interesting.

Crazy rude from start to finish
