I really liked this! The bugs were so unsettling though! I feel like it was a really realistic, terrifying portrayal of mental health and your brain not functioning the way it's supposed to. On top of that, there was a lot of social commentary, talk of drug abuse and what it can do to those around you and in your life. My only qualms with it, were I think the ending was way too abrupt, with a ton of lead up, but then the book just... ending? I also wanted more of the religious commentary. The preacher felt like he was only there to add to the unsettling atmosphere, but I wanted more of it!

This book understood the assignment.

I don’t often do horror, but hearing that the audiobook was good, I wanted to give it a go. Let me tell you, I was scared listening to this. I actually loved the direction that this book took.

I definitely recommend listening to this one on audiobook.

I think this one started off kind of slow, I was curious where it was going though and I looked the characters so I kept with it. The ending was really interesting and I feel like I might've liked to know what happened after but it was still mostly satisfying.

Ehhhhh not my style.

I’m so disappointed in this one. It had me interested. I was patiently waiting for all the info to roll out. And when it finally starts having some reveals? It ends. This was not a clever cliff hanger that got you thinking, this was “I’m going to end this book right in the middle of the climax.” I’m pissed. I love a lot of her books and she’s an auto read for me, but this one was not it. I felt like the reader really got shorted. The low ratings is primarily for the way it ended.

So well written and creepy. The author does a great job at giving the main character a unique personality. The dialogue is extremely well written and I love the pacing. I now need to go read every single thing by this author.

Didn’t really care for pacing and lack of any reunion of the family.

“I need to smoke I need to smoke I need to smoke.”

Tiffany D. Jackson can do no wrong in my eyes. Everything she writes is always beautifully written, captivating with an unexpected plot twist that will leave your mouth agape.

This is the 6th book that I’ve read from her.
It was a one sitting read, the voice actor did a great job & the storyline was relatable & easy to keep up with.

Although this isn’t my favorite TDJ novel, it is one that is well worth the read.
