This book has a lot of scientific data that I wish I retained. Its point is clear though: we're screwed. Especially since this was written 10 years ago. I wish it provided more concrete actions we could take.

He hates Washington. He hates cap and trade.

If we go on as we are until all fossil fuels are gone, sea level will rise 250 feet, maybe a billion people will be displaced, 20% of species will go extinct, and weather will be unstable, so our agricultural and industrial output will suffer for generations. Life will suck. Then we'll turn into Venus. So most reserves must be left in the ground.

He recommends:
1. Eliminating coal-burning plants by 2030
2. A carbon Tax, distributing the revenues equally to each person.

Great book by THE MAN on climate change. A solid background in earth science is helpful and knowing a bit about heat transfer would help too. It's not a light read, but there are enough personal stories and other anecdotes to keep workload manageable.

There's good information in here but the text is boring and often too personal and anecdotal. There are much better texts regarding climate change available to both the average reader and for those more interested in the technicalities of climate science.

I'm glad he's speaking up, but the writing was too technical for me.

The two stars are a bit generous. This book was part description of the factors affecting climate change, part political mémoir, part publication and presentation history with some personal commentary. I found the actual science interesting (and worrisome), but the political digressions distracted from it.
