A great book for anyone starting a blog. I listened to the audiobook and loved it so much that I bought a physical copy to reference it later on

It's a tad outdated but overall some really good advice about blog creation and social media management. It reads really quickly! The actual examples from Hyatt's blog or other blogs that he included along with his advice I found the most helpful. Definitely one to reference for anyone looking to build an online brand!

If my experience with The SharePoint Shepherd’s Guide has taught me one thing, it has taught me that marketing is far more important in today’s world than having a great product. It doesn’t make any difference whether you’ve got a good product or even a great product if no one knows about it. While word of mouth marketing might have made a difference in the past, it’s not enough today. That’s why I’ve been trying to figure out how to get my ideas and my products noticed in an increasingly noisy world.

Great read if you're just starting out and wanting to build your platform, especially if you're not technically savvy. Michael outlines a lot about how to use the best tools, and explains the benefits of certain methods to build your platform. I briefly skimmed the last few chapters because it wasn't anything I hadn't already heard before, but found the first half to be informative.

This book would more appropriately be titled: Platform: How to build a great BLOG that gets you noticed, as 90% of this book is dedicated to that topic. I was expecting this book to be a one-stop-shop for building a substantial platform as a whole not just a blog. For anyone looking to build, run, market and monetize a blog this would be awesome book to get you started.
