it was fine, but i had high expectations given how much i've loved backman's other works. ot wasn't bad, and given the length, worth the read, but it wasn't particularly emotional, and most aspects of the books felt underdeveloped.

I expected it to be sweeter and lighter but it made me think and I listened to it during a long walk with my dog and it was really well written and narrated.

I wouldn't recommend reading this in public. I have to take several pauses because it hits a little too close to home.

I have several questions though that the book didn't get the chance to answer because it's a novella and didn't really go through all the details.

Majority of the books I read are written by female authors because I find it difficult to find male authors that write emotions deeply and very humanly. If there's one male author I can vouch for, it would definitely be Fredrik Backman. I remember reading his other novella last Christmas and I had a headache from all the crying I did. If you personally like characters that are introspective and somewhat/ much older compared to common MCs, read his books.

An interesting mix of A Christmas Carol, It's A Wonderful Life and The Twilight Zone. Backman's short tale weaves elements of the three tales listed above to create something uniquely his own, told in his inimitable style. Powerful despite its short length.

A powerful little story. I love that Backman's books leave me thinking.
