Would’ve never in 1 million years read this book had it not been a book club pick. I don’t get the comparison to Gone Girl? I felt like the author couldn’t make up her mind what kind of book she wanted to write so she ripped off a bunch of other people’s stories and threw it into one book. Steig Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo rape scenes meets Jodi Picoult’s 19 Minutes. And who likes reading books about school shooters when you teach high school? I should’ve read the intro little closer. I’d be The Luckiest Girl Alive had I read a different book on my night stand.

Loved the book! I would’ve given it 5 stars if the first half yeah wasnt slow. The second half of the book was fantastic and I couldn’t put it down!

I hate Ani. She's a social climber, right? She and her mother? I almost stopped reading the book. That's how much I don't like it. However, I'm trying not to DNF books so I painstakingly read the entire story. And until the end, I still did not like her. The choices she made...urghhh!

It would’ve been four stars if I read it when it came out, but the book does not hold up.

So I definitely was expecting a twist just not the twist that happened. The story wasn’t bad I did want to know what happens next as I turned each page but idk something more was missing? The ending seemed a little rushed. I’m interested in seeing how the Netflix movie will compare
