This one was an odd one. I expected for it to be shocking but instead it was stilted. Awkward in away that you can tell a story has too much going on and lacks direction. Even when we finally find out what happens, it doesn’t really move the plot forward.
Whew… needed a trigger warning before this one! It was VERY engaging and kept me turning pages. Not at all boring.

This book started off slow, but once the plot started unfold, it turned into a psychological and terrifying rollercoaster of emotions and unfortunate events. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style, I still appreciated the way this author tackled such a difficult and painful subject matter. The biggest disappointment for me was in how this book ended. It seemed rushed and incomplete, which felt totally disconnected from the rest of the book. That being said, this book did evoke a strong emotional and visceral reaction. So for that, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Now, this one did take me a good while to get into and as I was getting through it, the characters were not likeable at all. Except maybe one or two. But the further I got, the better this story got. (Trigger warnings for rape and school shootings) some chapters, I had to pause and give myself a minute to kind of collect myself and be like "did that really just happen?!" But it's sooo worth it in the end.
