No trigger warnings were included and I needed them. I’m pretty disappointed that this was not Included in the front of the book and it’s pretty intense.
Graphic: Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Sexual harassment
Moderate: Gun violence, Mass/school shootings

Luckiest Girl is poorly branded as a thriller. There aren’t really twists here, just a series of terrible things happening to a teenager. The main character is unlikeable for much of the book, but this is slightly absolved by her trauma and how terribly the adults around her at the time of said trauma react to it. Overall it was ok. Not great and not terrible, just ok. But don’t read it expecting Gone Girl.

I think I like Ani, which helped me like the book. I mainly read it so I can watch the movie and know what’ll happen. Good but not the best
Usually the problem I have with "bestseller mysteries" is the writing, but in this case that's not an issue. Jessica Knoll can write. And the book kept me wondering what would happen next, which is not something that happens often in these types of books (see also: the ending of Girl on a Train, telegraphed from the get-go). You may not particularly care for TifAni FaNelli (what is up with the capitalization, guys?)--she is acerbic and cruelly judgmental, the mask she uses to get by in a life that has served her some pretty bad, rancid lemons--but I like a multi-dimensional (anti)heroine who doesn't play nice all the time. That said, she can be a bit much, and I did need the occasional break from the cutting remarks about everything and everyone in her life. I'd definitely recommend this book if this genre interests you; it's one of the more well-done books of its kind that I've read recently.
Wow, I couldn't stop talking about this book while reading it. It was like seeing a car wreck, it was disturbing but I couldn't stop reading it. I saw in a several reviews that people couldn't stand the main character, which I totally get, but at the same time, I feel it was the only way she could cope with everything that happened to her. I will think about this book for a long time to come.
