Fun kind of whodunnit that introduces the various characters in the opening chapters to outline what (if any) motive they would have to kill Lady Tode. The blurb and cover design give the impression that this novel takes place in the past however it is a classic plot in a contemporary setting. From the beginning this novel feels like it could easily jump to the TV and would be filled to the brim with a wealth of very British caricatures. Some fun and easily imagined characters that are in some parts PG Wodehouse and other parts Noel Coward. Comedic and mysterious simultaneously throughout. The novel feels like it loses its plot in the middle as the murder falls to the background and it starts to get a little messy. The ending felt quite rushed and not the methodical reveal which feels so at home in a novel such as this. Overall it was enjoyable and an easy read.

It took 98 pages for something at all to happen, and from there on it kinda picked up speed.
Alas, the very flat and boring end as well as the ultra slow beginning made this book a two star - at best.

I didn't like this one much, I found the characters too insufferable, and the murder mystery itself was like an afterthought.

Bizarre book. I was deceived by the cover (was expecting a Christie-esque 1920s murder mystery) and instead it was a poorly-written slapstick set in the modern day. Granted, it was fast paced and had very occasional moments of comedy but altogether, a bizarre book and frankly, I can't forgive a writer actually using 'tbh' several times in dialogue...
